A Plan with a Pivot

November 21, 20251 min read

Last week I was all set with a new Word for the Liturgical Year.

And then, I knelt in Adoration on Monday.

I realized that the prayer welling up in my heart was pointing me towards a different word.

It's a word about process.

It's a word about becoming.

It's a word about craftsmanship.

It's a word about revealing the beauty contained within little by little.

It seemed like an invitation.

Yet, my first thought was maybe that will be my word next year.

You see, once I have a plan, my natural inclination is to stay the course. I can get attached to my plans, but in recent years I have been learning that it doesn't have to be that way.

I realized the invitation was for now--not a year from now.

I can't wait to see the surprises that will come with the journey.

Would you like to join me?

I have created a guide to help select a word, keep it visible throughout the liturgical year, and document the process (aligned with the liturgical seasons). I would love to have you join me.
